At the Planning Office, about 200 people work to make Sigtuna Municipality an attractive, vibrant, and safe place to live and work. We plan new residential and business areas. We design and build roads and utilities for water and sewage. We take care of parks and forests as well as schoolyards, preschool yards, and playgrounds. We work with traffic issues, parking supervision, waste management, and much more. We handle regulatory functions and exercise supervision and control, as well as issue permits within our areas. Sigtuna Municipality is an expanding municipality with extensive housing construction, many business establishments, and investments in the public space.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to contribute strategic expertise and a development focus to our Geodata unit?

The Geodata unit consists of nine people with backgrounds as GIS engineers and surveying engineers. We also have a special mission to drive the digitization of the planning process.

We are now looking for a GIS Coordinator/GIS Developer with several years of professional experience in the field and technical skills. We offer a job that is varied, stimulating, and allows you great freedom to plan and manage your work in collaboration with your colleagues. You will work in a system environment built around open source programs such as Origo (github.com/origo-map), Geoserver, PostGIS, and Smart Visualizer for our internal and external web GIS. We also use QGIS, FME Form, FME Flow, TopoCad, Oracle, and ESPA.

Your role includes:

• Development and management of our internal and external web GIS where much of the work is based on Javascript and FME Form/Flow
• Database administration and integration between GIS and other operational systems
• Maintenance, operation, management, and development of GIS tools
• Development and management of the municipality's 3D environment. We are at the beginning of our 3D journey and see that you will be involved in taking the next step towards a well-thought-out 3D process.
• Create and maintain geodata
• GIS analysis and assignments both within the Planning Office and other departments and offices.
• Streamline by creating routines and automating processes using FME
• Disseminate knowledge about GIS within the organization and train its users together with the unit.

We are in an industry with rapid technological development where tasks may be adapted based on your skills and areas of interest. In our unit, we all take responsibility for carrying out the everyday work of production, assignments, and analyses together.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a university degree in GIS, system development with a GIS focus, or equivalent. You have several years of experience working in a similar role, and project management experience is an advantage. You have good knowledge of Javascript, FME, and database management. Experience with handling and presenting 3D data, open source programs such as QGIS, PostGIS, and Geoserver is also advantageous. We see it as a great benefit if you have programming skills.

You are knowledgeable in your field and self-driven. We value that you carry out your assignments proactively with great commitment and a high degree of service orientation towards customer needs. If necessary, you do not hesitate to seek help from your colleagues. We are a small unit, and therefore we will also place great emphasis on personal qualities.
